Picote produces a range of millers and cleaners for use in pipes. In total, the company manufactures 12 different machines, each designed to clean, descale, cut, etc., in pipes of different sizes and materials, and in different environments. Some are available with battery packs and can be used without mains power, whilst some need to be plugged in. Finally, some feature cameras, whereas others do not.
This article will help those who are looking to hire or purchase one of these machines by providing specifications for different models, outlining the jobs they’re capable of undertaking and identifying alternatives where appropriate.
Picote Mini Cleaner

8mm shaft
Suitable for DN32 to DN75 pipes
Maximum range of 16 metres
Speed of 500 to 2200 RPM
Available with both a battery and camera
Built for plumbers, Picote’s Mini Cleaner can be used to clean, descale, cut, etc. in low-diameter pipes. A total of four different models of the Mini Miller are available with variations including a model with neither a battery or camera, one with a battery, one with a camera, and one with both. These models weigh between 27 and 38kg for ease of transportation. All have a maximum operating range of 16 metres.
Machines that include a camera include a head with a diameter of 23mm, 12 LEDs and a 512hz integrated sonde. The camera heads can also be found on a 30-metre long inspection cable. Systems with cameras also include a separate monitor with a 17.8cm colour display and footage can be recorded onto SD cards.
Battery-powered options are slightly more powerful than those powered by the mains, with a maximum RPM of 2,200 compared to 2,100.
Picote Mini Miller

8mm shaft
Suitable for DN50 to DN100 pipes (for cleaning) and DN50 to DN75 pipes (for cutting)
Maximum range of 26 metres (with a 10-metre extension)
Speed of 500 to 2900 RPM
Available with both a battery and camera
With more power than Picote’s Mini Cleaner, the Mini Miller is perfect for clearing tougher blockages. Its extra power also allows it to clean pipes of up to 100mm in diameter. Like the Mini Cleaner, there are four different models of the Mini Miller available, again one with neither a camera or battery, one with a battery, one with a camera, and one with both a battery and a camera. These models weigh between 27kgs and 38kgs, again making them highly portable, and all have a maximum operating range of 26 metres, though a 10-metre extension is required.
The camera used with Mini Millers is the same that is used with Mini Cleaners and include the same 23mm head, 30 metres of cable and 512hz sonde as a result. The same 17.8cm monitor, capable of recording to an SD card, is also included.
Unlike the Mini Cleaner, battery-powered versions of the Mini Miller are less powerful that their mains-powered equivalents of, with a maximum RPM of 2,200 compared to 2,900.
Midi Cleaner

10mm shaft
Suitable for DN50 to DN150 pipes (for cleaning) and DN50 to DN100 pipes (for cutting)
Maximum range of 33 metres (with a 10-metre extension)
Speed of 500 to 1500 RPM
Not available with a battery or camera
The Midi Cleaner is capable of cleaning and descaling in pipes between 50 and 150mm and cutting in pipes between 50 and 100mm. Whilst it cannot achieve the same maximum RPM as the Mini Miller and Cleaner, its higher kW output ensures the machine is sufficiently powerful and capable of cleaning and cutting up to 33 metres down a line. It’s 10mm shaft features a thinner casing for maximum flexibility, allowing the Midi Cleaner to operate in setups including multiple 90° bends.
Unavailable with either a camera or battery, the Midi Cleaner must be powered by the mains and a 1.5kVA 100V/16amp transformer is needed to use this machine in the UK.

Suitable for DN70 to DN150 pipes (for both cleaning and cutting)
Maximum range of 30 metres (with a 10-metre extension)
Speed of 500 to 1500 RPM
Not available with a battery or camera
Capable of cleaning and cutting in pipes of between 70 and 150mm, the Super Midi Miller has the same capabilities as Picote’s Midi Cleaner, but with a 12mm shaft for cleaning tougher blockages. Like the Midi Cleaner, though, the Midi Miller’s shaft uses a thinner casing to maintain maximum flexibility.
Like the Midi Cleaner, the Midi Miller is not available with a camera or battery and requires a 1.5kVA 100V/16amp transformer in the UK.
Maxi Miller
